Burgos Tennis
Few teachers understand the pedagogies of physical education better than Norm Burgos. A highly trained and comprehensively educated expert in the field, Norm Burgos holds multiple degrees in kinesiology, exercise physiology, and sports medicine and has been a respected educator and trainer in Northern California for the past 10 years. Norm Burgos utilized his significant abilities most recently as the physical education instructor and lead tennis coach for Mill Valley, California-based Tamalpais High School. In his position, Norm Burgos earned the respect of his students and the administration for his intelligent approach to the curriculum and his stewardship of Tamalpais’ tennis team to local and statewide prominence. In 2003, Norm Burgos was honored for his work at Tamalpais High School with the Elizabeth Terwilliger Award for Excellence in Teaching. Norm Burgos earned his first Bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University in 1984. During this time, Norm Burgos was a constant presence on the Dean’s List, earning an impressive 3.84 GPA. Norm Burgos followed his B.A. from Pepperdine with a B.S. from San Francisco State University. Demonstrating the same high level of ability in this second educational endeavor, Norm Burgos earned multiple academic scholarships, including the Cooper Scholarship and the Harvey Milk Scholarship. Recently, Norm Burgos returned to school for a third degree, this time earning his M.A. in Education with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Currently, Norm Burgos works as the Executive Director of the Burgos Tennis Foundation. The foundation, which Norm Burgos established in 1998, serves as a community-focused organization committed to teaching the sport of tennis to underprivileged youth. Additional functions of the Burgos Tennis Foundation include mentoring services, low-cost personal training, and specialized fitness programs for individuals and companies. Norm Burgos is certified as a trainer by several organizations, including the USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association), the PTR (Professional Tennis Registry, and the ITF (International Tennis Foundation).
